About Aurelia, the vocal harpist
By playing her original compositions for harp and voice, Aurelia likes to break stereotypes around this ancient instrument and bring it into a modern context. With her warm voice and versatile harp playing, she enjoys interpreting jazz and pop songs in a unique way. Her own compositions are deeply touching and invite the audience into a soulful river of sounds.
As a harpist and singer, Aurelia has performed at concerts and festivals in 14 different countries. She started playing the harp at the age of five and was already performing concerts and winning competitions from a young age. She took her passion for the instrument to a higher level by studying harp and music pedagogy at the Music Academy in Freiburg (DE) and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (FI). She then moved Denmark to study master in Jazz/Pop Harp and songwriting at the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg.
In addition to her classical training, Aurelia began arranging music from all over the world for the harp. To expand her repertoire, she attended numerous master classes with international harpists. Among others, she learned from Diego Laverde Rojas (COL), Sivan Megan (ISR), Imogen Barford (UK), Isabelle Perrin (NOR), Päivi Severeide (FI), Edward Witzenburg (NL) and Park Stickney (USA).
Today, Aurelia lives in Leipzig, where she teaches harp and regularly leads workshops for harp and voice as well as vocal painting courses. Alongside her pedagogical work, she remains active as a harpist and singer, presenting her own compositions on international concert and festival stages.
